Is my store outdated?

Type your store's address. We read its home page the way any browser does and tell you which store software it runs, which version, and whether that version still gets security fixes. Free, no email needed, about ten seconds.

We keep the store address you type and the result. Nothing about you: no email, no sign-up.

Why an old version matters

Old store software doesn't stop working on a set day. It keeps selling, and that's the trap. Once a version stops getting security fixes, every hole found in it later stays open. The people who plant card-skimming code on checkout pages go looking for exactly those stores.

It also gets in the way of everything else. Your store software runs on PHP, the programming language underneath it. When PHP or the store software is too old, newer plugins and payment modules won't install, so the store slowly freezes in place. Then one day the payment provider changes something and the checkout stops working.

The fix is an upgrade, not a new store. Your design, products, customers and order history stay where they are.

What it checks

  • WooCommerce and the WordPress it runs on
  • PrestaShop 1.6, 1.7, 8 and 9
  • Magento 1 and Magento 2
  • PHP, when your server shows its version
  • Shopify, Wix and Squarespace are recognized too. They update themselves, so there's no version to fall behind on.

How to read the result

Current
The newest line of that software. Nothing to do.
Behind
Still supported or still patched, but newer releases are out. Every release you skip makes the next update bigger.
Far behind
Years of releases behind. There's no official end date, but security fixes that are already public are missing.
End of life
Gets no security fixes any more. Holes found in it stay open.
Could not tell
The page doesn't show the version. We never guess one.

Questions people ask

How do you know which version my store runs?

We load your home page once, the way any browser does, and read what the page itself gives away. WooCommerce and WordPress print a small tag with their version. PrestaShop and Magento show it in their settings and file names. Some servers also announce their PHP version. We don't log in, scan, or try anything a normal visitor couldn't.

Why does it say "could not tell"?

Plenty of stores hide their version numbers, and plenty of servers don't say which PHP they run. That's a good habit, not a problem. We never guess a version. If the page doesn't show it, we say so.

Is PrestaShop 1.7 end of life?

Yes. PrestaShop 8 and 9 replaced it, and it no longer gets updates. It also runs on PHP 7.4 at most, which no longer gets security fixes either. PrestaShop 1.6 is in the same spot.

Does WooCommerce have an end-of-life date?

No. WooCommerce and WordPress don't put dates on their versions, so we never call them "end of life". Instead we count how many releases behind the newest one your store is. WordPress only promises security fixes for its newest release.

What can't this checker see?

Anything behind the login: your plugins or modules and their versions, the theme, the database and the server itself. That's what the free store review covers.

Want the full picture?

This checker sees the outside. Our free store review looks at the inside, on a copy of your store: every plugin or module, the theme, the database, the server and PHP. Within 3 business days you get a written list of what to fix first and a fixed price for the work. No charge, no obligation.
