PrestaShop speed optimization, by people who can read PrestaShop.

PrestaShop speed optimization is mostly detective work inside PrestaShop itself. Most hosts can run it; few can read it. We've worked in PrestaShop's codebase for most of its life, so when a store is slow we open the module, the query or the Smarty configuration that is slow, instead of selling a bigger server. Fixed price, quoted after we have seen the code, with the speed guaranteed in writing: a mobile Lighthouse Performance score of 80 or more within 30 days of the fix being finished, or the next month is free.

The problem

When a PrestaShop store goes slow, the cause is usually inside PrestaShop. A module runs a heavy query on every page load, including pages where it does nothing visible. Smarty caching is misconfigured, so every page is compiled again. Combination and layered-navigation queries that were fine at launch have grown with the catalog. A half-finished upgrade left two versions of the same module behind. Underneath it all, PrestaShop, its modules and PHP are years behind. More on the PrestaShop page.

What's included

  • A speed baseline measured with Google's own tools: mobile Lighthouse on your home page, your top category and your top product page, before anything changes.
  • Written findings ranked by business impact, with a fixed quote for the fix.
  • PrestaShop, modules and PHP brought up to date.
  • Smarty caching and PrestaShop's performance settings configured properly.
  • Hook execution cost measured per module; heavy modules fixed, replaced or removed with your agreement.
  • Combination, layered-navigation and ps_search queries and indexes tuned to your catalog.
  • Caching set up around your cart and checkout.
  • A move onto a dedicated server we manage, with daily backups, monitoring and a monthly report of your Google speed scores.

How it works

Step 1$750

Speed Audit

Fixed price. 3 business days from receipt of access. We go through your code, database, server and settings and measure your speed the way Google does. You get written findings ranked by business impact and the fixed quote for the fix. Credited in full against the Speed Fix if you proceed.

Step 2from $2,500

Speed Fix

Software brought up to date, settings tuned, caching set up right around the cart and checkout. The exact price is in your audit, before you commit. From 7 working days, depending on what needs doing. 50% on start, 50% on delivery, with the $750 audit taken off.

Step 3from $395/month

Monitoring

Your store runs on a dedicated server we manage: uptime and security monitoring, PrestaShop and module updates, daily backups and a monthly report with your Google speed scores. Month to month, no minimum term. It is part of every fix, because running on our server is what lets us guarantee the speed.

Price

The audit is $750. The fix is from $2,500, with your exact price set in the audit and the $750 credited in full against it. Monitoring is from $395/month, no minimum term; a store that also wants engineering hours every month takes Managed Engineering from $950/month instead (the two plans side by side are on the maintenance plans page). Everything we sell, with the guarantee in full, is on the pricing page.

The guarantee

If your store doesn't reach a mobile Lighthouse Performance score of 80 or more within 30 days of the fix being finished, the next month is free. Measured with Lighthouse mobile via Google's PageSpeed Insights from a US test location: the median of three consecutive runs on your home page, your top category and your top product page. A baseline is captured before any change, using the same method, so you can see exactly what moved. Third-party scripts added after handover (analytics, chat, pixels, review widgets, A/B tools) are excluded, because they run outside our control.

Want to see where you stand now? Run Google's speed test on your store: it takes about 30 seconds. Kozelj.net, a PrestaShop store we upgraded and now maintain, went from 41 to 94 on that test; both the old and the new store are online.

Questions

How much does PrestaShop speed optimization cost?

The Speed Audit is $750, fixed. The Speed Fix is from $2,500; your exact price is written in the audit, before you commit, and the $750 is credited in full against it. Afterwards your store runs on Monitoring, from $395/month, month to month with no minimum term.

How long does it take?

The audit takes 3 business days from the moment we have access. The fix takes from 7 working days, depending on what the audit found. The guarantee is measured within 30 days of the fix being finished.

Why is my PrestaShop store slow?

Usually because of something inside PrestaShop, not the server: a module running a heavy query on every page, Smarty caching misconfigured, combination or layered-navigation queries that grew with the catalog, a half-finished upgrade. A generic host sees a PHP process using too much CPU and sells you a bigger plan. We open the module and fix the query.

Do I have to move my store to your server?

Yes, after the fix. Monitoring is part of every Speed Fix because we cannot keep a store fast on a server we do not control. Modules update, traffic shifts, someone installs something new; a store tuned once and then left alone is slow again within a year. There is no minimum term.

My store is on an old PrestaShop version. Is a speed fix enough?

The audit answers that. In most stores the fix is outdated software brought up to date plus settings and caching. If the findings show a broken upgrade, abandoned modules or a database that has never been tuned, you get a fixed quote for a Store Rescue instead, with the reasons, and the audit is credited against that as well.

Will you keep my modules and my theme?

The audit lists every module with what it costs you on each page load. Most stay. Some are replaced or removed with your agreement, and an abandoned module that matters to your business can be rewritten. Your theme stays unless it is itself the problem, and the audit says so before any work starts.
