Free store audit
Type your store's address and we'll look at it the way an outsider can. How old the store software is, whether the connection is secure, and how quickly the home page opens on a phone. The findings show up right here, no email needed.
Takes about a minute. We keep the store address and what we found. Nothing about you, unless you ask for the PDF.
What we look at
First, the store software. WooCommerce with WordPress, PrestaShop, Magento and a few others leave clues about their version in the page. We compare that version with the newest one the makers have released. If yours no longer gets security fixes, we mark it Urgent and tell you why and how it gets fixed.
Then the server. Store software runs on a language called PHP, and old PHP versions stop getting security fixes too. Some servers tell you which version they run. Many don't, and then we say so instead of guessing.
We also check that the store opens over a valid secure connection right now, the little padlock in the browser.
Last, speed. We open the home page once on a simulated mid-range phone over a slow mobile connection. It's the same test Google uses for its PageSpeed Insights score. Shoppers on phones don't wait long, and Google shows faster stores higher, so this one matters more than it looks.
These are the checks our team runs before we call a store owner. If you want, we'll email you the full report as a PDF afterwards. We call it the Store X-Ray. It adds what faster pages could be worth in sales, how big your store is by number of products, and what the work would cost.
How to read the result
Each finding gets one of four marks.
- Urgent
- Software that no longer gets security fixes, no secure connection, or a phone speed score under 50 out of 100.
- Needs work
- Behind, or slower than it should be, but not dangerous yet.
- Good
- Current, secure or fast. Nothing to do here.
- Not visible
- The store doesn't show this from outside. We never guess.
Questions people ask
What does the free store audit check?
What anyone can see from the outside. Which store software runs your store and how far behind it is. The version of PHP (the language the store software runs on), if your server shows it. Whether the store opens over a valid secure connection. And how quickly the home page shows its main content on a phone.
Do you need a login or access to my store?
No. We open your home page the way any visitor would and run one phone speed test on it. Nothing gets installed and nothing private is touched. What we can't see from outside, like your plugins, the database and how the server is set up, is what our free store review covers.
What is in the full report?
It's the Store X-Ray, the same PDF our team sends to store owners. Each finding comes with why it matters and how it gets fixed. If you tell us your monthly sales, it also shows what faster pages could be worth. It includes your store's size by number of products and what the work would cost. Two pages, in plain words.
Why did my store "turn the audit away"?
Some stores sit behind a firewall that blocks automated visits. We don't try to get around one. Send us the address and one of us will look at it by hand.
Why only the home page?
The audit runs one speed test, the same one in the Store X-Ray. If you want four pages (home, category, product and cart), each tested three times, use our free store speed test.
Does it work for Shopify?
Partly. It shows the speed and the secure connection, but most of the report doesn't apply, because Shopify runs the servers and the software for you. There's no version to fall behind on. We don't work on Shopify stores, so we don't send a report or an offer for them.
What happens with my email address?
The report comes from Aleš Gaber's address, and we keep your name, email and the store in our customer records so that a reply reaches the right person. No newsletter, no list. If you want it deleted, reply and say so.
Want someone to go through it with you?
A 15-minute call is free. We'll look at what the audit found and tell you what we'd fix first, and what we'd leave alone.
